The story of two families, whose gardens adjoin. There are three Carltons - John, Margery and Annette - well-brought-up, clean and tidy children, with nice manners ans ways, fussed over by their proud moither. Rather prim and proper, never climbing trees nor playing “rough” games, the little Carltons are horrified at children like the Taggertys.Pat, Maureen, Biddy and baby Michael!. Rough, Noisy, untidy and careless, not very truthful, and quite selfish, they romp through life with their mad but lovable dog Dopey. what happens when the teo families get to know one another? Ah, that is the story - and a fine story it is, full of wisdom and humour, exactly the right book for any boy or girl.

Condition: A considerable amount of tear and wear to front, spine and back of dust jacket. Corner piece to bottom and top of spine dust jacket and front bottom left corner missing. Previous owner inscription on the front flyleaf, All pages are attached and readable, no missing or loose pages. Mild corner bumping to hardback. Price clipped.
